Exhilarating, mysterious, cult. If you could describe GUNMOLL in just 3 words, you would get quite far with those terms, but you’re not nearly there yet. This band around Jolien Grünberg and Bram Bol creates an energetic mix of (surf)rock, oriental sounds and pop. The music wouldn’t be out of place as a sonic backdrop to the most bloodcurdling chase scenes of your favorite (cult)movies. Neo-noir (think Tarantino) is also a tag that you could stick on their music. Singer Jolien: “You could say that we sound like Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Queens of the Stone Age had a wild night together, and GUNMOLL was the result” In their songs, the band depict scenes from the life of a “Gunmoll”: a girl who stumbles upon her father’s gun (Tata’s Lie), a young, dangerous seductress (L.O.V.E.), a threat within the mafia environment (Feed You To My Dog).

GUNMOLL is a band with a story and a history. That story has everything to do with the origins of singer Jolien Grünberg. She has Romanian blood and therefore sees the world through a different lens than is usual in the Dutch music scene. Inspired by that background, Jolien started writing and contacted guitarist/producer Bram, with whom she had already developed a good connection during a previous project (Miss Pussy). With Bas Janssen (drums) and Koen van Bemmelen (bass) in the ranks as a rock-solid rhythm section, GUNMOLL is complete.
